From small weeds to majestic trees
YourGardenShow Citizen Science debuts as a U.S. based program, relying on a core of North American plants, which we call “Calibration Plants.” These plants are on our "most wanted" list - they grow in different parts of the United States and they are easy for Citizen Scientists to identify. Plus, these plants have distinct and interesting life stages!
Scientists are especially interested in these Calibration Plants because they are important in different ways to ecology, economy and public health. Based on their scientific relevancy, YourGardenShow has divided the Calibration Plants into three initiatives: Pollinators, Allergy Agents and Season Spotting.
Calibration Plants come in all sizes and shapes. By including at least one in your Citizen Science activity or your garden Glog, you can help scientists see the "big picture” of seasonal changes. Thanks for joining us!
