A growing movement of heirloom gardens across the nation. Members could choose from one or all of the themed contest stages: "Seed", "Plant", "Tend" and "Harvest" - plus a special lottery drawing. It was great to see all the fruitful heirloom gardens! We proudly recognize the Top 25 heirloom gardens from among the many across the US and Canada helping to preserve the legacy and diversity of these time-honored plants.
We invited gardeners to show off their fabulous food gardens for a chance to win $500 and be featured in Mother Earth News! All were welcome to join in with a free membership and easy creation of a garden plot profile to share: planning, sowing, care and the bountiful harvest! A Fab Food Garden "Vote" button automatically updated garden vote tallies with each new comment. Three winners were awarded prizes.
Congratulations to our contest winners: "Chiz Gardens" in Monroe, Michigan, "Backyard Garden near Phoenix Arizona" and "Garden of Verdure" in Winter Springs, Florida! These three gardens received the most comments on their Glog (garden log) within the contest timeframe, and all three received a prize of a Flip HD video cam. Thanks to everyone who participated!
