Why does a Gerber Daisy look good and healthy one day and then wilted the next day?   Is the wilting from over watering or stress from not enough water?

It seems that once they have wilted, watering and/or letting them dry out  doesn't seem to help .... they eventually die!   There isn't any sign of disease or mildew.

Thank you,

I actually have a Gerber daisy that I put into my garage throughout the winter, here in PA & watered it once a week & it came back healthier than ever this summer.  It is more beautifuk than when I bought it.  I give it water everyday.
