Can someone help.  My father is looking for a ground cover, to cover a space about 20ft x 200ft.  He lives in the mountains (zone 5a), so he gets long cold winters and a brief hot summer.  He is looking for something that will be 1 foot or less in height and will pretty much take care of itself.  Can have flowers, but does not have too.

Mountain gold Alyssum is a good one, so are the follwoing...  Ajuga 'Black Scallop', Kinnikinnick, Campanula poscharskyana 'Blue Waterfall' (Serbian bellflower), Cerastium tomentosum (Snow-in-summer), Ceratostigma plumbaginoides ( Plumbago), Cornus canadensis (Creeping dogwood, Bunchberry, Dwarf cornel), Cotoneaster 'Tom Thumb’, Dianthus gratianopolitanus (Cheddar pink), Viola ‘Etain’, Geranium 'Rozanne' (Hardy geranium), Hypericum androsaemum 'Albury Purple' (Tutsan), Hypericum calycinum 'Brigadoon' (Aaron's beard, St. John's wort), Mazus reptans, Pachysandra terminalis (Japanese spurge). @Queen_of_Green:   Thank you.  I really enjoyed that site, it is a good source to look at.  I really like the black scallop.. sounds nice to me, I will have him read about it and check out the site.  :)
