TACO SEASONING .  We all seem to be dehydrating....so why not make our own taco seasoning? I hate the commercial brand seasoning...loaded with MSG and other garbage. I have used this recipe for a while now and love it:

You've got it right - it is so much better to have a homemade concoction..knowing what is exactly going into your food.  It is unbelievable what the extra ingredients are that go in to most pre-mixed flavorings.  We are all better off (economically and on the health front) if we take the extra effort to create our own melange of herbs.

@Kristen: I agree. Most people don't think twice! It's so hard to get people to think about where their food comes from. I actually do an activity with my 6th graders where they write down what they had for dinner, and then they trace plant or animal for every part. It's really eye opening.

@Groundskeeper: Absolutely. I don't start school til September, and this particular activity doesn't happen right away though....

@Kristen:   I agree, what I hate about prepackaged seasonings like taco is the amount of sodium in them (and of course the items you can't even pronounce).  Thanks for the link.    You guys might like this photo that was posted on FB last night - the caption was "Our elected officials recently voted against a bill requiring labels for GMO foods. The Food Revolution has officially begun. Know Your Own, Grow Your Own."

Thanks for the great idea & recipe ... I will definitely use it.  Taco soup is one of my favorites for a cooler football Saturday.
