As far as is practicable, tall growers should be together at the north end of the garden and low growers at the south or east. Often, however, rows of lettuce, radishes, or other low growers can be grown between tomatoes or other tall growers and can be harvested before the latter attain much height. |

Shall I plant rows of tall vegetables between those which are low-growing?If you don't have any worries about the sunlight needs of the low growers, or would like to provide the taller plants as trellises for viney plants (think 'three sisters' type of scenarios), then mixing the heights like that might add some visual interest. However, if your primary focus is on growing as much produce as your garden will permit, then you might reconsider the pros and cons of shade created by tall growing plants.
