Hardy perennial. Chive-like herb with garlic flavor. Compact 18- to 24-inch plants with flat, wide, dark-green leaves. Also known as 'Broadleaf Chinese', 'Chinese Leek', 'Chinese Chives', 'Kau tsai' 'Taiyuan' or 'Nira'.
- Easy
This easily grown perennial can be direct seeded by broadcasting seed and lightly covering in soil in spring and fall or existing clumps can be divided every few years. Harvesting the foliage for salads and garnishes will result in more, healthier and larger plants. Over the hot summer months, remove flowers in a timely manner to prevent the plants going into dormancy.
