This crabapple is a rounded, deciduous tree which typically grows 15-20' tall (infrequently to 25') with a similar spread. Red buds open to slightly fragrant, single white flowers (1 3/4\ diameter) in spring. Flowers are followed by masses of small, orange-red crabapples (to 3/8\" diameter) which mature in the fall. The fruits are persistent and attractive to birds. Ovate, glossy, dark green leaves."

Best grown in loamy, medium moisture, well-drained, acidic soil in full sun. Adapts to a wide range of soils however. Prune May to early June (i.e., after flowering but before flower buds form for the following year).
