Care instructions
A short-fruited "hairy gourd" type that is picked when 6 inches long or less. The dark green fruit are excellent for cooking. This early variety has good tolerance to heat; very popular in South China.

Seeds may benefit from soaking 24 hours before planting. Best direct-seeded at about two weeks after last frost, but can be started earlier as transplants, provided the seedlings are set out before becoming rootbound. Thrives in rich soil full of organic matter. They can be trellised if desired. Supply abundant moisture and keep mature fruit picked. Requires a long season.
