Mache 'Bistro' (Mache)

Scientific name: Valerianella locusta
USDA hardiness zones:
-
Days to maturity:
47 - 47

Vigorous plant with tender creamy leaves.

  • Medium to wet

Mache is sown in late summer to mid-fall for spring harvest. The seeds are best broadcast generously over the soil surface and covered with ½ inch (1 cm) of soil, compost or hay. Seeds may be pressed into the soil prior to mulching with a board to level the bed. Seeds can be sown every ¼ inch in rows about 10 inches (25 cm) apart which will allow for larger rosettes (rosettes can reach up to 6 inches or 15 cm). Be sure to keep moist if the weather is dry.
