Japanese snowball bush (or Japanese snowball viburnum) is a dense, upright, multi-stemmed, deciduous shrub that typically matures to 10-15 tall and as wide. It is noted for producing snowball-like, spherical inflorescences (terminal cymes) of sterile, non-fragrant, white flowers along the branches in spring (May). Flower clusters resemble those spherical clusters of V. opulus ëRoseum (see C362 herein). No fruit is produced. Ovate, toothed, dull dark green leaves (to 4î long). Easily grown in average, medium moisture, well-drained soil in full sun to part shade. Prefers moist loams, but tolerates a wide range of soils and has good drought tolerance. Prune as needed immediately after flowering.
