So, I am starting to think I may have 'bit off more than I can chew.' Not really, but I am just very tired after another whole day of gardening. I watered a little, since once again the weather was fickle - it was supposed to rain and didn't. I probably should have done a better soaking watering, but that will be tomorrow, unless,... ...see more |

Since I am on vacation this week from work, I feel like I am starting to get things to the point I am happy with them. I mowed grass, I fertilized with fish emulsion, and I both cut and pulled weeds. I got my lilies of the valley planted, and some other lilies planted, and I got things picked up around the yard. It isn't finished... ...see more | |

So today I went around with my bag of bone meal fertilizer and side-dressed all the root crops. I will do the fish emulsion tomorrow, together with putting down some diamataceous earth. I may have to spray something - neem oil or the 'cidal soap stuff on the bean plants too. Something has been nibbling quite a bit on the leaves.... ...see more |
| If my beans are being munched on it's usually little worms around here that fall out of the trees |
I tossed a fabric cover over them. Hopefully, that will cure the problem. My granddaughter has beans in her raised bed and they are covered with an insect pop-up net gizmo and those have not been chewed on... more » |
| I know what you mean. It was a loooooong winter this year, and a not too warm spring. I'm pretty sure I was picking beans at this time last year too. Oh well, you can't have mild winters all the time, right? |

So, went around the beds with the little green weedeater tonight when I got home from work. The strawberries have bloomed like crazy. Put some chicken wire over the broccoli bed. The cat decided he wanted to dig up the little zucchini plant I just transplanted - bad kitty! Basically I'm hungry and I'm pooped. |

I used the first of the little cabbages in supper tonight. Cabbage tastes a little different when it is out of the garden. I am waiting to see if the other little cabbages will grow up some more. They look great, but they are very small. Also, something has really been attacking the mustard greens and the broccoli - holes in... ...see more |

| Funny, looks just like mine. :) :) It is good to see things coming up green~ gotta love it. |
I gave them some more of the fish emulsion tonight because it was supposed to rain - key words there are "it was supposed to." You are right though, it is good to see things coming up green - and getting b... more » |
| I am glad I waited, because it rained. And, it looks like it will rain into the middle part of next week. It rained pretty good yesterday, and today it has been raining off and on. |

It all started the summer of 2010 when my goal was to make fresh salsa. In the beginning it was just one little patio tomato plant in a container, and from there it grew, and it grew and it grew...and it is still growing. It went from containers on the balcony to a couple of raised garden beds, and then just expanded - more beds, more containers. Now it is just a matter of truly getting a vision for what I want the aesthetic to be and going forward from there. My garden definitely helps me 'decompress.' I like to use the vegetables (and one year hopefully fruits too) to try new recipes - it is a good way for me...
