Born and raised in Kansas, I moved to northern Wisconsin for college where I attended one of the top environmental colleges - Northland.  This fall I will start the Master of Public Health program at the KU Med Center. I recently moved back to Kansas after seven years in the San Francisco Bay Area, during which time I completed a yearlong AmeriCorps internship leading at-risk youth in service-learning projects in school gardens, on local farms and at state parks.  I've lived and worked on three farms, two in the U.S. and one abroad, and currently am a contributing writer for Civil Eats, the national food justice blog.
