We decided to create our "Mulch Gulch and Beyond" using wooden palettes, parts of an old bed, two bottomless wood chairs, and cinder blocks to build this area for compost, and storage for fencing, stakes, ... (more) |

My mother was an avid gardener. She grew everything, even bought the property next door so she could have more gardening space.
My husband and I decided that we needed to garden, even if it was just a few edible items. For a couple of years I had small gardens in the back of the yard then got the idea of doing raised bed gardening, close to the house, using a format that will be (hopefully) permanent.
This year was Stage 1. Two raised-beds were made with cinder blocks, old cardboard and black gardening material, old fence posts with metal fencing, and a soil mixture. Then we planted a few serious vegetables...
