Planting Beans and Peas Feb 19, 2012
Activity-icon-status

I am choosing a new location for my beans and peas this spring.  Since i have not grown any peas or beans in this part of the garden before, I am innoculating the soil with beneficial bacteria to help them grow and be more productive.  I am thinking I may sprinkle a little of it in the compost, so the whole garden gets...

Impressive!  I have been planting some tomato plants and have planted different chili seeds.  I should have started some inside.

My gardens are all innoculated and ready to go.....I'm afraid it will be a while for the beans though.....weather is too cool.  I'll be interested in following how your Fava beans grow.  I'm thinking about growing those next year.

Yes we all have different climates and different soil types. It is interesting to see what others are doing and no one seems to mind if you use their idea. This year I got a really late start due to s... (more)

One good thing is that now my brother lives with us and he helped renovate one of the flowerbeds.

The garden is too soggy to walk in, so I took a few pics over the fence. We had a nice rain last night and today the sun is shining. Love it. I like to pull weeds when the ground is moist...but not so moist that I sink down a foot. So no gardening today. Maybe tomorrow.

Adam dug up a ligustrum by my front door...when they bloom...

I did not garden this weekend.  My grandson is in town and time with him was more important.  I did review the things I plan on planting in the first wave.  And I am planning a spot for the Violet De Province artichokes.  I also have some Jerusalem Artichoke tubers lifted from Randi's garden.  I was thinking that I would...

How wonderful.  Maybe you can tease us with pictures of the bright lights swiss chard.  I love swiss chard but truthfully I plant bright lights for their lovely colors.

Planning next Springs Garden Dec 11, 2011
Activity-icon-status

Today I reviewed the seeds I have bought and collected to plan next Springs garden. Almost all of them are Heirloom varieties.  I have too many varieties of tomatoes to plant at the same time, so I did some research and found which like heat.  I wont plant them with the first wave.  I'll wait until a couple months before harvesting... ...see more
