This is a cool photo. if you look closely you can see the butterfly's probiscus (tongue) going into the flower getting nectar.

What a great photograph! It looks like we are both Texans!

Yes Mam! I am near Katy, just outside of Houston.  I see you are just getting started, so if you need any tips on Texas gardening, I may be able to help.  I have some experience. But I am confounded by some of the new things I am trying...I have been growing lettuce, swiss chard and spinach in January!  That is new to me.  :-)  How about you?

I have been growing Chard, Spinach and Broccoli...take a look at some of my pictures.  I think fall gardens are easier than winter gardens in Texas!

I definitely agree...and this winter i have lettuce galore!  It has been mild. Lets hope no more hard freezes.  A frost or two I can deal with, just water and cover.

I do hope you follow my website BeeGuiled...I would love feedback on everything!

I already am.  I like seeing what other Texans are doing, what works and what doesn't.  You do have a lovely place.  I love the oaks.  I personally would not plant anymore cedars, because they suck the water out of the ground, so other trees can't have it.  In some of the Texas Parks the are removing cedars because of this.  I follow lots of gardeners at this site.  Many share very useful information.  I don't mind helping with questions, either.  I have been gardening for quite a while and have learned the hard way...trial and error.  I read alot of books and talk to people.  I really do some weird stuff sometimes and may not always be in line with the status quo, but...it's my garden and I love experimenting. So take what I say with vodka and salt (wink).
