Welcome to my attempt at vegetable gardening in the backyard of a small condo with raised beds. A bed that receives no direct sun during the winter and way too much in the hot Arizona summer. This is my journey.

I lived in Illinois my whole life until moving to Cheyenne in late 2011. I love to grow plants and try new things. Because of the climate and because I'm a renter, I will be doing mostly container plants this year....

This swale is a crazy mix of anything productive I can get to grow in the desert w/o irrigation.  Fun and great challenge.

Self-watering bucket containers of tomatoes, peppers, and potatoes.  The plants have all the soil they need, and I can adjust the soil ph independently.

Two cinder-block gardens plus berries, grapes, etc. all around.

I plant flowers around my house and usually have a small garden of a variety of vegetables. I will add a community garden plot this year. 

My backyard garden spot is taken over from ground under and old trailer home - dirt over gravel. Over the years I have added soil to the plot and I can grow some pretty decent tomatoes, zucs, peppers and some hardy...
