Your garden is looking so pretty ... full of fabulous colour.
Betty replied about 1 year ago
Thank you. I think it was the prettiest ever -  with more color.  Maybe the unusual cold in the winter helped some things. After the last two days of hard rain and severe winds it has already faded!

I thought this big bird was an eagle when I first saw it but it has too much white on it so decided that it must be an osprey. The bonus is that he is clinging to the second half of his lunch!!! He is VERY high in a cyprus tree - had to zoom in a lot!

Thanks for sharing your Florida garden. I love what you did with it and the birds that are attracted there are wonderful. Do you collect seeds?
Betty replied about 1 year ago
Thank you. I do love the birds I see - several small birds including hummingbirds. The egret and osprey were the first I have seen of those in my yard. I do collect a few seeds like Cleome, Batchelor buttons, and Jerusalem artichoke.
My nature blessing for today. Another nice visitor! Feb 27, 2011

Serendipity, having an egret take a walk through your garden. Wonderful! <3
Betty replied about 1 year ago
Thank you all for your comments. It was a wonderful time! He (she) stayed for about thirty minutes the first stroll and walked all the way around the house. Late afternoon it was back and did the same stroll ~ got his lunch and dinner.

I have been outside almost all week! Love it. Did a lot of clean up and am very anxious to head out tomorrow in pursuit of a few new plants! I also did threee hours of MG work in the Student Museam garden this morning. My old legs are very tired!

I have never liked orchids very much and I could have them hanging from the trees here! I recently bought this white one and arranged it among tillandsias, lichen covered twigs and other assorted things all picked up in my yard.

Looks like you're off to the orchid show with this one.  The shows I've been too have had these elements mandatory in all the orchid displays.  It'ts lovely and a nice presentation.
