One of the prettiest tulips around, and it's reliably perennial.

@BotanicalBrain:  Really, a tulip.  So pretty.  What is it called?
BotanicalBrain replied 11 months ago
@JMTKMS: It's Tulipa orphanidea var. flava. It almost doesn't look real, even in person.

@BotanicalBrain:  I will have to write that down for my dad, and for me.  I think it is very nice... very odd for a tulip, the petals are very unusual...  Really enjoy looking at it, and it would be fun to have some in the yard.  Thanks for responding, and thanks for sharing it.  :) :)

@JMTKMS:No problem! This tulip has been growing in the garden for a few years and comes back reliably each year. It is unusual looking. I think the bulbs came from John Scheepers. Some also sell it under the name Tulipa whittallii. Another REALLY unusual tulip that's cool is T. humilis 'Alba Coerulea Oculata.' Its metallic blue and white flowers would look great with the orange T. orphanidea var. flava.

@BotanicalBrain:  That is a beautiful one... I love white flowers, and the touch of blue is great!  The site is nice too!  Thanks!
