I love this photo. The range of purples and that pale grass in the background are beautiful. This is the ideal kind of photo for tagging (which is coming soon on the site). I want to know all the plants--the starry white bulb (?) in the left foreground, the pale purple-pink umbels (is that a yarrow?) and the upright purple flower spikes (salvia?), not to mention the grass.
@Groundskeeper: Hello there! I am trying to add new tags to this image but can't seem to figure out how. Any pointers?
The plant in the foreground with the starry bluish white flowers is eastern bluestar (Amsonia tabernaemontana...), the one with the flattened purple-pink blooms is Wonderful Wampee yarrow (Achillea millefolium 'Wonderful Wampee'), the salvia is Caradonna sage (Salvia nemorosa 'Caradonna') and Mexican feather grass (Nassella tenuissima) is in the background. The combination has turned out beautifully!
I don't know why tagging is not working for you. I'll ask the team. Meanwhile, thanks for the identities of the perennials. The combinations are beautiful. I don't think the grass is hardy here in Z5 but that gorgeous salvia is hardy here and it's looks to be the perfect size for the garden in the traffic circle on my block...next year.
I just learned that tagging is live only on the test site, which is for the staff and the code wizards. The schedule calls for tagging to go live on the web site next week. When it sends, I'll message you.
Gorgeous garden! I love the sedum aizoon. Sedum is one of my fave perennials but I'd never seen this variety; I love the red stems and yellow flowers! And those radishes look absolutely delicious! Can't wait to see more!
Thanks for the kinds words, Monel and Katie. I grew the Sedum aizoon from seed obtained from the RHS seed exchange (they always have super cool seed!). It's lovely, tough stuff. I see tagging has become a YGS reality, Mark. What a savvy feature!
BotaicalBrain, I see you haven't tagged this beautiful garden. There's a short, lively video about how to tag that will help you: http://blog.yourgardenshow.com/introducing-plant-photo-tagging/
Tagging is straightforward... and lets you both identify plants and write extended comments about them, if you are so moved.
@Groundskeeper: That's something I thought I did when I first opened my account. I remember it being comparable to Facebook tagging (with botanical names, of course). No how-to needed, but thanks.
@Groundskeeper:I'm still having tagging troubles. I just tried to tag my recent Ilex verticillata shots and after going through the motions, it lists the tag as "undefined."
