After a great deal of impatience on my part, some swiss chard seedlings, beet seedlings, and finally some peas have made their appearance in the garden.  Some of the squash has actual leaves, and things are beginning to look like progress may yet be made.  I'm super excited, and hoping that the obsessing over the beds will... ...see more

It's amazing to me how sturdy the chard and beets are once they get going.
Seedlings and Reseeding Jun 12, 2012

Yesterday was day four of sunshine (in a row!), and still there's very little in the way of growth in the terraces.  I'm going to reseed almost everything in the hopes of getting something to grow.  I found that the chard and beets, two of the things I'd been most looking forward to, seem to attract the blasted chipmunks.  They... ...see more

After almost a week since planting, there is still nothing growing, thanks to a solid run of rain since the day after the seeds got into the ground.  Today, there was sun, and even a little warmth.  Hopefully there will be some growth to post here soon, if this weather holds out for a little bit.  I know that gardening is... ...see more

I always like it when it rains after I plant so I don't have to water. DId the seeds wash away or is the ground too cold?

That's wonderful about your son's school! I wish our school had recycling and a school garden.

Hope your seeds sprout soon! I planted two types of Armenian cucumbers on the same day and one type (from seed I saved) sprouted within 3 or 4 days. Now about 10 days later the other variety is starting to sprout.

Gotta love the garlic!  I am hoping to really up the garlic quantity next year. There should be a good turn out this year also.

Getting to know the glog Jun 05, 2012
Activity-icon-status

The past couple of days have seen a flurry of activity from this particular glog as I become more familiar with the buttons, options, and various doo-dads available to users.  Hopefully soon I will feel "at home" with this format, and will be better able to keep the entries up to date.  I'm not the most technologically capable... ...see more
