Wow Andy.  I'm impressed!  You've been busy this winter.  Must be nice to live in a place with no snow :)

I have to hand it to you, ChickenWhisperer -- and on the first weekend of the year!

Love them. Just what I want to put in my garden. Planning on using them for runner beans.

You are the textbook example (or, at least for The Greenhouse example)  of a rye cover crop!

Jen and I used an old wooden plow to make the rows. Then we planted by hand.
lfin replied over 2 years ago
Did the trusty Ford pull the plow, or was that under people-power too?
ChickenWhisperer replied over 2 years ago
When we planted this section it was done by people power.

What is this?  BlueMan for the birds?  Does it keep the chickens in line too?
ChickenWhisperer replied over 2 years ago
This was our "make-shift" scarecrow made from whatever was laying around the barn.

Good one.  Big too.  Does it do the job? Here's another solution that makes any garden look like a carnival -- but it works

Looking good.  Your soil looks so, so fine.  Is it sandy?
ChickenWhisperer replied over 2 years ago
Yes, it's a very sandy soil.

Looking good.  I imagine the broccoli with 'thank you' in their thought bubbles.
