Progress on the Squash garden

By: Clenram
Mar 07, 2012
Jess made a new area I am calling the squash garden.  He flattened and terraced an area.  It started out with just sand.  He added some rich dirt, compost, and cow manure.  The little squash are coming up.  The most impressive part is the backside reinforced with wine bottles.  I have put different seeds in that part too.  It may rain tomorrow and we will see how everything holds up.

We use wine bottles a lot because we have no rocks on our place.  We have to buy rocks!   :)

@RussGarner: Yup!  Seems like everyone around knows we use the bottles and they (bottles) show up in boxes in the front yard.  Also we drink a lot of red dry wine!  Too bad we don't have a vineyard!

That's interesting. Maybe I should stop taking the bottles to the recycling center. I have a lot of rock though. That's what I grow the best.

@Wistful_Weeder:  Sure wish you were close we would gather rocks from you!  :)  They seem to mature rather fast!
