At my brothers

By: Clenram
Mar 24, 2012
 I am missing seeing the new gardens.  I can get a connection about every 5 or 6 tries.  I have been walking in the woods and have walked to the bijou.  I looked at the beaver dams and thought I saw a gar in the water....  My brother and I have gone to his local seed store and I bought him some purple hull pea seeds.  The man at the store talked a long time to me about what you could grow in sandy soil.  Interesting...  We also have worked in my brothers garden some.  He has about 10 nice blueberry bushes, some nice apple trees, and several types of peaches.  They all look like they are producing well.  We are clearing out some of the old turnips that bugs have latched on to.  The scallop squash seeds of yellow, green tint, and white from baker creek are coming up nicely.  I have to say the heirloom tomato seeds I gave him have come up nicely and are looking better than mine!  Mom usually has a long list of things for me to do and I have almost gotten that done.  I have not been able to check the notifications. (not working here)  I will have so much fun next week catching up with everyone.  Hope you are having a great spring everyone!  The best thing about YGS is making new friends!  I am going to meet with Rori on the way home.  That will be so much fun!   It is beautiful here...I am taking pictures.  :)

Are you meeting her for the first time or did you know Rori before?
RoriTx replied about 1 year ago
@Liz: This will be a first time meeting :)  I couldn't help but think when I read how close her family was to Shreveport that it might be nice to meet. I live about an hour away and would enjoy hearing about her past life in education. My daughter is an English/Journalism teacher and my daughter-in-law teaches History/Economics.

@RoriTx: How fun is that!!

@Liz: Wow I finally go a reply screen. I am having a great time except for  NOT being able to use YGS like i like to. Rori and I are going to meet for the the first time.  I hope I will get to do the same with you in about a year.  My husband's family was a migrant working family in your state while he was growing up.  We hope to go to some of those places when he retires. He has a very interesting story that I hope to tell one day. He has a family that has teachers, doctors, managers, directors, artist, and military.  I hope to catch up with you soon!

@Clenram: That would be fun!  Just let me know when you are in Michigan.  I can tell that you will not be bored with retirement.....you have too many things to do.....travel, garden, write a book, just to mention a few!!

I still like Liz's idea that we should all have a get together somewhere! Wouldn't that be fun!

@Clenram: Maybe they'll have another contest in the future and the prizes would be to send a bunch of gardeners to a garden or convention or ?????  It would be fun to meet the gardeners we are getting to know through their gardens.

@Liz:  I actually had the same dream...How about a story to Mother Earth New...About a Northerner and Southerner visit each other?  :)

@Clenram: That would be cool!

@Clenram: We'll have to write an article some day after we meet....it could even be posted in the blog section of YGS.  Maybe that's what you and Rori should do!

You all (Y'all), are just full of great ideas!  This really is a fun site with so many people to meet and such good ideas to share.
 CLENRAM, is that picture of the road w/ white fence an actual picture?  I really thought it was a painting, and now I really do not know.  Very pretty place!

@JMTKMS:  Yes it is a real place!  It is was one of the places I passed on my drive to my moms.  :)
