Let us have some lettuce! Apr 16, 2013
Activity-icon-status

I haven't had much luck with spinach this year.  This is odd because last year it grew much better than the lettuce but this year.....I have a good crop of lettuce to go along with bunches of radish!  I am way behind posting and reading!  I hope I catch up a little.

Hi stranger!  I haven't had very good luck with spinach for 2 years.  I just seeded some today.  So hopefully it will do better this year.

At least it's a pretty bad bug. I saw my first squash bug today :(

Ugh.  I was just googling when the squash bugs should appear in Houston.  If you have them, RoriTX, I bet I've had them for a while.  Bt sprays and injections for every little squash plant tonight!

Picked some Radishes today!  We had some nice lettuce ready too.  We had a couple of drops of rain, but hoping for more Tuesday!

Oh, I love pickled radishes!  We had some amazing pickled asparagus for Easter dinner this weekend - going to have to add that to my must-do list this spring!
March almost over Mar 30, 2013

The leaves on the trees are out and so is the oak pollen.  I have not felt well for a couple of days, but this afternoon feel like I am on the mend.  I have given a lot of turnips away and have made a bunch of kale chips.  I am not planting more places until we get some rain.  The Chef is making chicken and biscuits to help... ...see more

No cucumbers Mar 21, 2013
Activity-icon-status

Looks like I will need to try again with the cucumbers in the low field.  Only about 4 seeds out of 4 rows have sprouted.  I think that the weather was first too cold then too dry.  Good news is that I think we have plenty of time for the cucumbers, they seem to like the heat.  Several chili plants are coming back from the... ...see more

The broccoli is looking beautiful and still producing.  Several plants are just now getting ready to produce.  I did find this (photo #6) on one plant.  Does this mean I should go ahead and pull out the broccoli and cabbage, because it looks like white fly to me?The Kale is still growing well and I made a bunch of Kale chips... ...see more

It so weird to hear about Broccoli producing at this time of year, we can't plant ours for another week or two. Good to hear your garden is doing good.

95 - wow.  I know I keep wishing for warmer weather, but I don't want to see those temps quite yet!  The photos of your flowers are so lovely!

How sad...  Sad it died and sad that they would rather shoot it, than give it a chance to live.
