The baby chicks survived the 110°+ weather with a little misting on the hottest days.

August Doldrums

By: Dizzydog
Sep 10, 2011
I realized today that it has been over a month since I posted anything.  August was miserable here.  Nearly every day was over 100°f. Rain was a distant memory.  (We are still the grip of a serious drought. Please send rain donations to the Great Plains.) Too hot to garden and too hot for the garden.  I went to the basement and hibernated.  The heat wave broke this week and highs  have dropped into the low 80's which are normal for this time of the year.  I grabbed my new camera and went out to see what was left of the garden.  It looks a bit rough but some things have done surprisingly well. Aside from a $200! water bill last month things could have been a lot worse.
