The slugs and aphids are showing up early in my garden; I usually do not have much of a problem with the aphids until June, and the slugs are usually only around until the weather turns dry and warm. |

I started seeing aphids last weed (5/2/12) I washed them off, but saw new ones yesterday so now I will use a soap mixture to remove them. I typically do not see them until later in the month. These ones are green with wings; when I see the black wingless ones, I know they are being farmed by the ants. |

This is my year to grow as much produce as possible and to use the savings to pay down my debt and rebuild my family emergency fund. We eat a lot of fruits and vegetables; I have spent up to $80 in produce for a 2-week period for 3 people. My challenge is to grow what we need in movable planters and pots; I rent so when I leave so will my garden. I hope to be here another 1 to 2 years and then be able to buy the house and stay put.
