From a high spot on the Boothbay peninsula the Gardens tumble down the slope to the sea, incorporating bedrock in some places, removing it in others, adding dirt in pockets so plants thrive amidst the granite, as here. I live in a state with few rocks, so you can imagine how this scene sets me dreaming about flagstones and boulders in my garden, but instead of rock we have deep, fertile soil and that is a blessing too.

Beautiful.....it's interesting to visit gardens in different parts of the country.....they use what they have and interesting gardening things happen.

It's a terrific public garden and your comment is right. You set me thinking about gardens in places I've never seen, like the Black Hills of South Dakota, next door to Iowa. Sooner or later we'll have members from everywhere and we'll see their gardens. Definitely a goal for YourGardenShow.
