This is a vigorous chamois-colored heuchera called 'Caramel' that here has an abundance of red in its young leaves. Where does the red go later? Metabolised into other pigments or compounds, or converted to energy? Or is it still there in the old leaves but masked by their extra layers of skin, so to speak?
