My favorite shade plant for large spots, variegated Solomon's seal. The shoots are just emerging here. In two weeks they'll be 18 inches tall with leaves edged by white bands. All the stalks tend to lean in the same direction, toward the light, which makes the patch look like choreography. Spreads by its roots, maybe a little too well.
