Looked it up. It seems these are male flowers, no mention of female flowers. Still, is there a botanist in the house?

That sums it up. Now I'm wondering what plant family bloodroot is in. All those stamens remind me of something. Ah-ha, the poppy family. Who knew?

I have clumps of Autumn Joy throughout my garden and agree - it's one of the best perennials ever.

Used to be there was only 'Autumn Joy' with flowerheads that turn maroon and umber in Autumn but these days there are many new ones, some with variegated leaves, some with dark stems and leaves (like 'Matr... more ยป
