Chet bought a disused firehouse (it still has the firepole) by the highway and gardens around it. I found this ferny plant in a narrow strip of ground beside a lot of hot concrete. I though Filipendula, but I'd never seen one flourishing in full sun and flowering. I asked Kelly Norris who is on the way to becoming Iowa's iris guy and he said Filipendula ulmaria. If the flowers weren't there you'd think it was a yarrow.
