A detail of the Blaschkas' glass model of the Apple Blossom. According to Schultes and Davis' The Glass Flowers at Harvard, the apple is native to eastern Europe and western Asia, and has been cultivated for more than 3,000 years. Today some 6,500 "varieties" exist thanks to the ease of hybridization of the group. The early English colonists brought the apple to North America.
