Wow! Great video and great plants, hardy perennials for zone...4? Thank you for sharing your morning garden with all the rest of us on YGS. Martagon lily is green year round?

great idea to pair the penstemmon and bulbs. And Husker Red has always been such a generous plant for me -- 3 season interest, long bloom period, vigorous, and disease resistant. Because we have moved a bit, I almost forgot about that cultivar so I am glad you reminded me!

I never heard of the husker red penstemmon. I will have to look into adding that to my garden. especially if it's hardy and blooms for a long period.

@franksgreengirl...: Here's a great nursery with a catalog of plants for the Midwest (Bluebird Nursery) and it has Husker Red. Follow this link.

@Groundskeeper: Mark ~ sorry I am just replying now! All I can claim is high season as well as I dont log in to this site as often as I might! A couple of my martagons have yellowed but more of them still look great. We just got back from the Perennial Plant Assoc symposium in Boston....Adrian Bloom, Julie Moir Messervy, Brent Heath, to name a few of the presenters. Also toured Blythwold, Arnold Arboretum, Tower Hill & The Gardens at Elm Bank as well as many private gardens & nurseries. Are you a member? GREAT group. Sandra Gerdes from BH&G was there. LOVE what you do. I hope to log in more & stay in touch.

@HeidisLifestyleG...: hi Heidi. I'll be away for awhile so I have to be short (not a good iPhone typist). More later

@Groundskeeper: What a great trip you made! Also a lovely coincidence that you saw Sandra Gerdes. I hired Sandra away from Disney-Orlando to manage the BH&G Test Garden, which I had the great good fortune to design and build. It's online here in an interactive tour.
