August 3rd 2012 - notes to self

I can't remember when things got ripe last year.  Admittedly I do not have a memory (marcy).  So, August 3rd and:
**Apricots are ripe, Cherries are done   **Zucchini producing full force (have been for about 3-4 weeks)   **3rd planting of beets are ready, 20 pounders still growing - est @ 8-10 pounds   **Bush beans have been producing for 2-3 weeks   **Soybeans (second planting) starting to form pods, still small   **Lima beans have pods, not filled out yet   **Tomatoes are barely, barely starting to blush   **Melons are about 2/3's ripe   **Luffa baby is still very small!   **Cayenne Peppers some turning full red, 3 days ago   **Bell peppers very small   **Long green peppers are good sized (made stuffed peppers with them this week)    **Yellow Hungarian Wax peppers  are YELLOW  :)   **Cucumbers are starting to produce regularly... Made 1st pickles last night/this morning   **Carrots - second planting starting to harvest... first planting bolted due to cold   **Walla Walla Sweet onions all picked, and most of them dried   **Ailsa Craig sweet onions almost ready - planted from seed   **Winter Wheat across the street is being harvested.  We got 70 pounds   ****************   Just a memory note so next year I have something to judge by.  I also will be going in to update my Observations.  I have not done so in awhile and I need to get it done.  This will all be so nice to have next year, as a good reference.Happy Gardening, Good night  :)

Nw this is a garden. Great production. Love the photo.

@PrinceSnow:   If you click on the photo it is tagged with all our garden names and a listing of what is planted, or has been planted in it.  I do love this view... it is so pretty this time of year, but so sad in March.

Wonderful harvest coming in - The apricots really impressed me!  I'm thinking about fall crops now.

Funny, we have been here for 3 -4 years now and this is the first year we have gotten Ap....  They do come in kinda early, so we never remember to really look for them.  But the people we know who have trees do seem to have a hard time getting them to produce.  These cots are very small... but good flavor, so that is fine by me.  I will take as many as I can get.  I am hoping to get a "boatload" of damson plums this year too.  A friend has an orchard of them that no one rents, so the plums just fall to the ground every year.

The Garden Show is a wonderful way to keep track of other year's production. I just like looking back at old photos of the garden itself. Makes one feel like it's spring again. The planting season goes by so fast, in Wisconsin anyway.

@MaryLarson:  I love looking back at the pictures  of the garden, too.  It is amazing that it feels like it takes forever to grow, but when you look back, it really did not take very long... we are just so anxious to see our "babies" that is seems like forever.  :)

@MaryLarson: Yes, indeed. That's one reason I started keeping records here. It seems to be a useful tool specifically for garden records. :)
