I knew it one point for me. We use to dissect the... in my science classes. Companies actually sale these to schools...(can you believe that?) I would go collect them myself and soak them in alcohol. Fun times... :)
@Clenram: Soak them in alcohol, what for?? A college students comes by about once a year and collects owl pellets out here. We thought he was crazy the first time he asked, we said yes then all wondered what he was going to do with "owl poop". Then we looked them up on line and realized what they were. The kids went out and found some, and dissected them. they thought the mo... bones were great!
@JMTKMS: I soaked them in alcohol before I gave them to the kids to dissect. You would not believe how much the scientific supply houses sale these for...$
@JMTKMS: More sanitary and easier to open. The kid glue the bones to a paper and tried to match the bones to an animal they might have been. It would be good to ask a science teacher if they might want some. These days it might not fit in their curriculum. You might ask a 4 H leader if they would be interested.
@TheDirtMama: I am not sure if your picking the right thing, sometimes the hooting gets a bit carried away, especially at 5am. But, really, we do like them, other than the dead birds in their tree.
