Sunny and 94 expected

By: JMTKMS

Well, I will get out and back in quickly this morning.  No more sunburn for me.  I have to go and get lotion this afternoon.      I bought a thermometer the other day, actually forgot about it.  Today I will watch it and see what the actual "high" temp is.  Think I will spend today getting the A/C up and running.  This house is made of cinder blocks, and it gets VERY hot at the end of the day.  During the morning and afternoon it is cool, but as the evening comes, the heat works it way through the blocks and settles in the house.  It just turns into an oven.       I have to get my food room pretty well emptied by mid summer, because the temp in that rooms gets to be well over 100 degrees.  Not really sure how to solve the problem.  The food room does not have windows for an air conditioner.

I think A/C is the only answer...sometimes we run the A/C in December.  :)

@Clenram:  Glad I do not need it in December, but it sure is nice during the summer.

94 - yikes!  Hopefully that won't  have an impact on your cool season crops.  Last spring we had a couple of unusually hot days in 90s and all my greens bolted and it was the end of the peas :(

@SweetDomesticity...:  Well, they may bolt, and I will have to just pick as much as I can before they get there.  Then out they go and I will plant something else.  I will replant some cool crops for fall.  It usually gets hot here quite quickly and then I just grow what likes the heat.  I did put my salad garden in the shade, so I am hoping it may produce all season.

there are ice powered air conditioners.  they don't need a window for venting.  maybe worth looking into??

@tieramaza:  Really?  I will have to look this right up.  That would be awesome if it is cost effective.  Thanks!

That's quite the temperature difference from a couple of weeks ago.  The weather has been funny this year.  I usually have sun lotion & bug spray in my wheelbarrow.
