What a nice way to use up zucchini!
JMTKMS replied 11 months ago
@sreece:  It uses up a lot, and people eat it fast... but don't tell them what it is till after they eat 3 pieces... otherwise they will refuse to try it.  Even after some people eat 3 pieces, when we tell them, they will start making faces and tell us " oh, ya... I knew it tasted funny, I just ate it to be nice..." .  Anyway.  We love it.  :)

jay is traumatized from this now.  haha!  he is so mad he got tricked!  i think it's funny.  and that pie is delicious!
JMTKMS replied 11 months ago
@tieramaza:  Well, find some zucchini and make one.  make sure I copied the recipe right.  I cut it in half to be one pie... but I usually double and make two at a time.  The rate these two went, I need to make 4 next time.  :)

@JMTKMS: jay won't even taste it if he thinks that there are zucchini in it.  haha!  but me and the kiddos would love it!

@tieramaza:  Just tell him it is fine... there is more for us.  :)

looks fabulous!  I will have to try (whenever my zucchini decides to start)...thanks for sharing the recipe.
JMTKMS replied 11 months ago
@veebee: Your are welcome.  It is the least I could do for you, after all the wonderful recipes you have shared.  Have you checked out the recipe forum category?  I try to post all my recipes there, and sometimes on my site too, but it is beginning t... have a pretty good selection.  Your recipes, food and drinks would be a great addition.
veebee replied 11 months ago
@JMTKMS:  I have to spend more time over there (in the forum) & perhaps take some better notes or at least be more mindful when I cook so I can translate the result into a written recipe...
JMTKMS replied 11 months ago
@veebee:  Yes, that written recipe is a hard one sometimes... but when you find a really good one that you decide to write down... the forum is an excellent place.  It is nice that you can search for recipes by what is in them... it is much easier than trying to find it on someones site.  :) :)

Looks really good!  I will vouch from my zucchini "apple" pie bars last week, you can't tell the difference!
JMTKMS replied 11 months ago
@SweetDomesticity...:  That is what we say too.  But, boy oh boy, there are those that will disagree.  We just laugh.  They cannot "tell" the difference till you tell them what it is.  There is a slightly different texture, which is somewhat contro... how much you steam them before putting them in the pie.  Oh well, we love it, so that is good.  :) :)

@JMTKMS: The only thing missing in my opinion is the distinct tartness that you get with a lot of apples.  You just can't really duplicate that with lemon juice, but as a sweet "apple" pie - awesome. And I totally agree with you - it's all in their minds once they find out what it is :)

@SweetDomesticity...:  You are right, there is no replacing a good Granny Smith Apple pie.  :)  But, I do like the zucchini pie better than regular a....  I am really not a fruit pie liker... I prefer fresh.  :) ;)

@JMTKMS: Funny, I'm not much of a pie person either!
