JSEC created a garden!

This is my first post, I'm just getting to know the site but I'm really happy to have found it. You could say that I have three gardens:Right now I'm staying at my mom's in Sweden while I finish my masters degree, she has a few orchids that I have been helping her take care of and teaching her some basic orchid care tips. You would be amazed at how many orchids, mainly phalaenopsis are sold in Sweden, but to me it is a shame because most people don't really know how to take care of them, so most are overwatered to death, then people go to the supermarket or to the flower store in the corner and buy a new one. It takes some reading and some practice (I have also lost some plants) but once you get the hang of it it's quite simple and you get really hooked into them. Right now we have three or four spikes growing, so I hope to be able to post some pics soon when they bloom. There is also a keiki (like a small baby plant growing from another) growing from a plant which has suffered from crown rotting, and it has given us hope because we thought we were going to loose it. More on that to come.My second garden is at my dad's, back in Colombia. He has a small patio/garden and when I came to Europe I left some of my orchids there along with some I have given him. I am posting a pic of a laelio-cattleya that just bloomed. There we also have one phalaenopsis, a handful of dendrobiums and right outside the house there is a really big epidendrum ciliare growing on a tree which gives lots of scenty flowers. I have wanted to get some divisions off from that one for quite some time, but all in due course. Then my third garden is in my mind, for the time being. Soon I will get back to Colombia and to my own place, where according to the crazy plans in my head is going to have more plants than space! It will be an apartment but I am determined to grow as many vegetables and herbs as I can, and hopefully get back to my own orchids. That, at least, is the plan ;)
