Okay, takes me a minute to figure things out. Will the peas grow up the front and the back. with a space in the middle? Have you used this type before? I have not really liked my pea plants that climbed. Usually I just put up posts with a twine fencing, two or 3 rows of twine. This idea looks alot better for sturdiness. I will enjoy seeing your peas growing on it.
Thanks guys, its to different frames with a space to walk in between, but my six year old things I should put some netting across the top, attaching the two, so there's a "tunnel"
@SweetDomesticity...: I think I'm going to take a few minutes today and add some netting to the top. I think I should theme my garden around children. One of my goals in life is have my children love gardening and respect where their food come from.
@Jentheo:Great idea to have the children love gardening, but I don't know what variety of pea you are planting, but I do not think my plants would have made it over the top. Mine just went to about 4.5 feet or so. Pole beans should go over, or maybe there are things somebody else knows, or maybe you have "tall" peas. I really do not know for sure, just would not want to let a 6 year old down.
@JMTKMS: I planted Tall Telephone pea, its says it can grow up to 6ft but we will see. The frames are about 4 1/2 ft tall, I wanted to experiment to see if they will reach 4 1/2 ft.
@Jentheo: LOVE the idea of a children-centered garden! One of my "someday" dreams is to create a kid-friendly community garden and offer educational programs and a place for kids to experiment in gardening. So many important lessons about the food we eat to pass on!
@SweetDomesticity...: That would be a wonderful place, I really hope you make dream become reality. I'm tired of video game, TV, being constant entertainment for Children. If you make that dream a reality you would be making a big impact on the future generations. Great Dream!
Those frames looked much taller to me, so yes your peas should be great! I usually plant my tall beans on a "pole", but it seems to reason that they would climb on anything.
