Getting so excited I can't wait! MONDAY is the day I can officially start planting some of the more tender plants. I have been waiting for this day since last fall.

I feel the same way!  We're usually pretty safe here in Michigan after Mother's Day!
SweetDomesticity replied about 1 year ago
We're usually safe around Mother's Day as well, though this year almost everything is already in.  Just a few more things to do this weekend :)

I can't believe I forgot to plant spinach, I hurry and planted some seeds with the strawberries. I was reading they make good companions, I am hoping its not to late in the season for spinach.
JMTKMS replied about 1 year ago
With the weather this year, "anything could happen".  Good luck, I hope the spinach grows well.
SweetDomesticity replied about 1 year ago
I think you should be able to still get some before the weather gets too hot.  I have to replant quite a bit of mine this week - the package I planted had really poor germination.

Glad you got some planted. You're making spinach noodles? Hmm...I can think of a lot of ways I'd rather use spinach but maybe I should try it. I just planted malabar spinach today which is a hot weather variety for here in TX.

Has anyone grown Chamomile, I love Chamomile tea and I thought it would be better fresh.
CreativeGreenThumb replied about 1 year ago
I've grown it before but it is pretty finicky.  It didn't do well here in Texas.  I think it is just too hot in the summers but you might have better luck where you are at.
Jentheo replied about 1 year ago
I think I'm going to try it. I just need to find some where that grows them around here, so I can buy a plant.

I thought I killed our raspberry canes, but today I found some shoots growing out of the ground next to the bare cane. I was totally shocked and glad I didn't rip them out of the ground.
SweetDomesticity replied about 1 year ago
Raspberries are determined little things, aren't they?  Glad yours didn't let you down!
Jentheo replied about 1 year ago
I am hoping some of the other canes send up some starts too.

Everything is covered and now I'm hoping it all survives.
Waldron Garden Of Love replied about 1 year ago
I noticed you are getting a little bit of bad weather! I hope everything survives!
Jentheo replied about 1 year ago
Yeah its been cold, the weather is looking great. I'm hoping to get some more tomatoes in the ground, the week after I'm hoping to get beans, peppers, corn, squash, cucumbers. and watermelon in the ground oh yeah and the pumpkins.

What did you use for a non-stick liner... I mistakenly used wax paper once and that was a mistake. :(
Jentheo replied about 1 year ago
I don't think I grabbed the right thing but it worked, one side of it was like tin foil and the other side  was a paper like material.   Reynolds non stick pan lining paper.

While trying to figure out where to place my mamouth sunflowers, I came up with a idea that may or may not work. I'm going to grow my sunflowers next to my tomato plants and use the sunflower stems as stakes for my tomatoes, I can tie the tomatoes to the
JMTKMS replied about 1 year ago
I would be careful here, the sunflowers are really bushy, and might shade the tomatoes to much.  We have stalks from past years sunflowers and they could be sturdy enough for tomatoes... We were think... more »

I was thinking the same thing, I was only planning on trying it with a few and see how it turned out. I heard the really tall sunflowers have sturdy stems.

JMTKMS replied about 1 year ago
They do have sturdy stems, but we find they are sturdier after they die and dry.  The actual stems have a hard time holding up the sun flowers sometimes.  They are awesome, though, we grow them every year.
