Today we fenced in our small garden in the back to protect it from our dog and the chickens, We got raspberry canes for one our raspberry beds, we are getting some starts tomorrow for the other bed. Beautiful perfect day.

Raspberries & Blackberries would be nice to get started. We had a local blackberry farm we would go pick from every year but they went out of business last year during the drought. I'm going to have to re-think what to do about that now.

We love Raspberries, my inlaws grow them and every year we make raspberry jam. We l decided we need our own little patch in the backyard so we can munch on them whenever we wanted. I think you should put i... more »

Yesterday I was asked a question about how I got started with Heirlooms and why I grew them? The truth is I knew nothing about GMO's or Heirlooms, 3 years ago. To me a seed was a seed, until I started reading articles on food allergies, cancer, and then it hit me hard when I was reading an article about girls getting their cycles... ...see more

Right here on YGS, dreamwanderon has a glog on GMOs.  There is so much information about GMOs on this glog.  I have learned so much.  Many of the videos are quite long, but  SO informative.  It sure was an eye opener.
JanT replied about 1 year ago
It is frightening that our food is being genetically engineered, treated with antibiotics and hormones, soul injected with pesticides so we can't even wash it off, and we wonder why we are all getting sick and having health problems.
Jentheo replied about 1 year ago
Dreamwanderon does have some very informative video's and articles on their Glog, definitely worth checking out.

Yes! We got our Mammoth sunflower seeds today, me and the hubby really want to make out own BBQ flavors sunflower seeds.
tallulahshines replied about 1 year ago
alright! I've GOT to know how to make those!!
SweetDomesticity replied about 1 year ago
Um, yes please!  I'd love to see that recipe, too!
Jentheo replied about 1 year ago
LOL I just realized it said 'make out" not make our own like its suppose to say. Me and hubby are going to experiment to figure out the best seasoning and way to make them. This is going to be fun, we love BBQ sunflower seeds.

One word RASPBERRIES! Getting pumped to put together our Raspberry bed tomorrow.
SweetDomesticity replied about 1 year ago
Yay for raspberries!  I still have a little cleaning out to do in our patch (now that the leaves have come in, I can tell which canes are old and which will produce one more time this year).  Lots of new little shoots coming up as well!
Jentheo replied about 1 year ago
We weren't able to get the raspberries in the bed today, but hoping tomorrow. What kind of raspberries to have?
SweetDomesticity replied about 1 year ago
I don't know the variety (they came with the house), but they are fall bearing raspberries.  I get a small crop on last year's canes sometime in July, then a larger crop on this year's canes in September.
