As luck would have it my flight was delayed, and I was able to get in a quick trip to the Peninsula Park Rose Garden (thanks Annie for the suggestion!). This particular rose garden is older than the Portland International Rose Garden (but it is not as well known). I believe that there are close to 9,000 rose bushes...unfortunately, my timing did not allow for seeing them all in full bloom, but I did catch a few before the season expired.
