A trip to Comstock Ferre (Wethersfield, CT) - 201st anniversary!

What better way to spend an overcast Sunday in Boston than to head to a sunny day at Comstock Ferre in Wethersfield, CT? My sister, father, and I took a 2-hour drive down to see our Baker Creek Friends (Jere, Paul, and Kathy), who are usually either in Missouri or California. The Baker Creek and Comstock Ferre teams put together a lovely day of music, festive foods, local artists, and a list of casual talks & panels on the role of heirlooms and GMO labeling. We met lots of knowledgeable gardeners and GMO labeling activists. Unfortunately, Connecticut was not able to get a law with GMO labeling teeth passed, but Jere reminded us that California is on the cusp of a very important vote - so make sure you encourage your friends and family out west to check the right box! All in all it was a fun day...until around 4pm when the sky grew dark and menacing, the winds picked up, and then the rain came down fast and furious. It was a mad dash for all, but no damage was done...just some soaked clothing but not soaked spirits!
