Lot's Growing in KM's Garden! Jun 28, 2011
Activity-icon-status

It looks like what we planted at the end of May is coming along pretty nicely...not growing as fast as last year, but I cannot complain.  The pickling cucumber plants are looking especially lush this year - lots of mini fruit ready to go.  The transplanted raspberries from my neighbor Arther has plenty of berries - some ripening... ...see more

The People's Garden (Washington, DC) Jun 24, 2011
Activity-icon-status

Last Thursday we headed to DC for National Pollinator Week.  Luckily we were able to squeeze in some time at the People's Garden as well as the U.S. Botanical Garden.  As you can see from the photos there is a nice mixture of veggies and flowers....lots of full sun here!  Does anyone have photos of other People's Gardens?

And the dahlias are in! May 22, 2011
Activity-icon-status

Each year my parents bring my dahlias back into Boston after a long winter's rest in their cool and dry suburban basement.  The warmth of my condo basement would wake them up too early - though I have heard that some other Fenway Victory Gardens gardeners keep the tubers in their fridge.  Anyway we held our annual "get the... ...see more

Gaggles of Geese - if only they stayed small and fuzzy... May 21, 2011
Activity-icon-status

As spring is in full growth mode, it is only expected that the Canadian Geese have returned to expand their population within the Fens.  I have been observing the various gaggles of newborn goslings over the past couple of weeks.  As it has been quite raw out as of late, I have seen the little yellow creatures huddling together... ...see more

Mother's Day Lilac Sunday @ the Arnold Arboretum (Boston, MA) May 08, 2011
Activity-icon-status

My parents and I spent a few hours yesterday experiencing the much raved about Lilac Sunday at the Arnold Arboretum.  This is an annual event where people literally come from near and far - to inhale the blooming lilacs.  Also, this is a chance to picnic in the park, which is typically not allowed.  Carefully selected food... ...see more

Spring has sprung! Apr 23, 2011
Activity-icon-status

It seems that spring has sprung a bit earlier this year...lots of daffodils, jonquils, and tulips, which move around from year to year - and seem to double in size!  This year I was lucky to have received a peony and some raspberries from garden neighbors - hopefully they will like their new home in my community garden plot.... ...see more

Mi Jardin Es Su Jardin (Boquete, Panama) Apr 12, 2011
Activity-icon-status

Mi Jardin Es Su Jardin is a private garden open to the public - a must see.  The plantings are plentiful and colorful - with some whimsical artwork sprinkled throughout the landscape (not exactly my personal taste - but it is pretty fun to explore on a sunny Boquete afternoon).  The gardens are expansive... ...see more
