We've been busy, in and out of the garden.  We are into our summer garden which consists of mostly a variety of field peas, pumpkins and winter squash, okra, sweet potatoes and corn.  We've not planted much corn this year.  We are planning to move our corn to a new field next year so the kitchen garden can focus on less intensive... ...see more

My peas have just started forming.  You have made my mouth water with the peas, bacon and fresh corn bread.  The beds with the hoops, did you make the hoops yourself?  If so, how?

I know what you mean. Just before we pick the first mess it is about all I can think about to eat. My grandmother always had a pot of peas on the stove through the summer. It was lunch and snack.  I d... more »

Been busy working on getting old boxes down on the garden paths then covering with pine and leaf litter.  My winter squash need some comfy places to run!  And I need to not have volunteers popping up around my beds to be cut or pulled endlessly.  It does make the garden look good and well groomed.  Still have to fix up some...

I'm so impressed with all you are growing. We just moved away from Ft. Rucker. I couldn't get anything to fruit, not used to that heat!
