An Unexpected Package! Yesterday
Activity-icon-status

Since I am attending the March Against Monsanto next Saturday in Ann Arbor, I was sent all kinds of hand-outs. I guess my group will have plenty to pass out. I'm hoping we will have a huge crowd in Ann Arbor as well as across the world and we'll be educating more people on GMOs.  It's not too late to get involved! ...see more

I'm Not Ready for Sweet Potatoes Yesterday
Activity-icon-status

I finally went to the mailbox to get the mail and surprise.....my sweet potatoes are here! I'm not ready for the sweet potatoes. They will just have to sit in a jar of water for a couple of days. Weather, wind, out of state wedding, and farmer spraying have put me so far behind in my garden.

We've picked through our sweet potatoes from last year and all we have left are some smaller ones Gary grates for hashbrowns but I'm guessing we were right on with the curing. Still nice and solid with jus... more »

This Morning's Letter to the Editor. Yesterday
Activity-icon-status

It must be my week to be annoyed!  If genetically modified crops are so safe, then my only question is: What won't they label them and let the consumer make the decision?  If a company/corporation is so proud of their products and they are so safe, then label them.  Instead so much money was spent to defeat Prop 37 in... ...see more

I will be working on a response in my head as I garden today.  Any ideas and sources to include in my response would be greatly appreciated.

Sometimes It Pays to Complain! Yesterday
Activity-icon-status

Since the delivery truck broke down on its way for our delivery yesterday, we were promised a 2:00 delivery today. My husband is a nice guy (too nice, sometimes) and I wanted them to know how unhappy I was; so I called the store and asked for the manager. Nothing he could say would appease me. My husband brought home what he...

Holy cow what an ordeal - yeah I'd be working on getting that delivery fee back too!!  That is kind of funny that the driver said that about the watering can tho...lol

How many chickens are you planning on getting? We have 10 hens and six nest boxes in our coop. We could have just built three since they always lay all they're eggs in two nests. We ended up blocking off three of the nests
Barn at the Organic Garden Is Almost Finished! May 17, 2013
Activity-icon-status

The second barn at the St. Mary Organic Garden is almost finished.  Two people have not turned in their paintings yet and spaces are saved for them.  A Rachel Carson quote will go on the second wall.  "Those who dwell among the beauties and mysteries of the earth are never alone or weary of life."  My husband brought home... ...see more

An Interesting Afternoon May 16, 2013
Activity-icon-status

I have pretty much been in a bad mood since the farmer started spraying his rented fields this morning. I felt cooped up in the house with the house closed up, so I went to a couple greenhouses to cheer myself up.  I filled the entire van up with flats of flowers and a gigantic metal rooster.  So I'm sitting on the couch...
