Grow It Forward: Heirloom garden picture

This is the earliest I have ever planted a tomato plant outdoors.  I am experimenting with the jug greenhouse.....hopefully, it will be successful.

@joeythejoe: Thanks.....I will need it.  I've learned since planting my tomato that Monday and Tuesday it's supposed to go down to 31 degrees.....might need to bring out a blanket.

Keep me posted cuz I like this idea way better than germinating inside and transplanting.

@TheDirtMama: I transplanted a tomato plant inside the jug; but your temps are warmer than mine, I bet you could plant your seeds in the ground and cover them with the jug and they would germinate.  I would try it!  I like experiments, especially if they are successful.  And if not, you always learn.

I put my tomatoes out early last year too. Not planted but in there pots. I covered them in plastic, like a greenhouse, then it snowed on them. The tomatoes stayed toasty warm believe it or not. You should be good with the plastic jug over them. I put my tomatoes out last night, again not planted but in the pots tossed into a larger pot and covered them in plastic. I'm praying they do well too.

@flower_lady: Good, then there is hope even if we get some frosty nights!
