You give me such hope!! How long have you had your garden(s)? We've only lived here for a year and a half, but definitely want to put my mark on the place. You've done that with your garden and I love it!!!
@Nellilein: Thank you! In July, we will be here 28 years. There was mostly grass and a big area filled with small rocks. I'm not sure what the reason for the rocks was.....something to do with cattle. The second summer we were here, my husband built this contraption with a screen to sift the rocks out of the soil. It was a slow process and we laughed about how we didn't get anything done that summer. My raised gardens in my veggie garden are all over a concrete slab. It was easier to build up, than to remove all the concrete in front of the barn. It's interesting to read what other gardeners on YGS, who come from different parts of the country, go through in order to have gardens. Both my husband and I are recently retired teachers and our three sons live in different parts of the country.....so we have time in the spring and summer to play in the garden! My best advise is to stay positive.....some parts of the gardening process go very slowly; but when they are completed, they were definitely worth the wait and are appreciated that much more.
