@Jentheo: It ended up making a tasty salad.

Beautiful! Our strawberries aren't ripe yet - those look delicious!
Liz replied 12 months ago
@StoneCottageFarm...: I've had a couple of strawberries that I just ate right out of the garden. These are the first ripe strawberries that I had enough to do something with.  There will be a lot this year.

Very nice! It looks delicious... Especially in your turquoise bowl! :)

@Queen_of_Green: I'm enjoying all the different lettuces I've planted this year.  I was really excited to see flowers on one of the Black Krim tomato plants yesterday.  I wasn't expecting that.

we've been eating a lot of salads with those exact ingredients!   Love salads with strawberries!! YUMMY!!

@PYehl: Oh, yum! I can't wait for the strawberries to ripen this summer! Then I can have some in my salad too! :)
StoneCottageFarm replied 12 months ago
@PYehl: We will have to try that when ours ripen, too. Right now, we're hooked on dried cranberries in our salads, with, of course, some of the goat cheese cheddar Dave makes grated over the top, too.

@PYehl: I like strawberries in my salads, too.  Just plain like strawberries!

@StoneCottageFarm...: Oh Yum! I like lots of fruit is green salads... figs, apples, dried cranberries, raisins, oranges, pears, strawberries, blueberries and grapes, etc... They are all good! :)

I tried this Strawberry Bruschetta a couple of weeks ago.  It was very good!  Combine 1 cup of diced strawberries with 1 T of sugar and let the strawberries macerate for about 30 minutes to release their juices.  Spread goat cheese on slices of baguette.  Top with a spoonful of strawberry mixture.  Drizzle with olive oil and balsamic vinegar.  Then top with minced basil leaves and freshly ground pepper.

@Liz: Yum! Thanks for sharing the recipe... I'll be trying this as soon as the strawberries are ripe! :)

Someone gave us a very similar recipe recently. We want to try it, of course, with some of our own goat cheese.
Liz replied 12 months ago
@StoneCottageFarm...: That will make it even better!

@StoneCottageFarm...: That sounds delicious! :)

Those strawberries look delicious. I had one today from my dad's garden. We don't have too many strawberries yet.
Liz replied 12 months ago
@xeriscape: Yesterday, I noticed a lot more are starting to ripen.
